Objective: The Flint Hills Discovery Center in Manhattan, KS wants a T-shirt for their gift shop. The shirt must include a Kansas icon of some sort. Ideally they would love to see plant root systems be included. The design should be refined and then hand carved and hand printed for a limited edition item in their gift shop.

My Approach: I decided to highlight various native Kansan plants that are found in the Konza, an iconic feature of living in Manhattan, KS. I initially chose plants that I thought were dynamic for imagery. The client then directed me to specific plants they wanted featured. I revised my directions to be as scientifically accurate as possible until reaching the final design. This was then transferred to a block to carve and print for the final image to be used on the shirts.
